Bachelor of Education(B.Ed) is a course offered for those interested in pursing career in teaching.
B.Ed degree is mandatory for teaching in higher primary schools and high schools. The minimum qualification required for entry into BEd course is Bachelor of Arts(B.A), Bachelor of Science (BSc)or Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com). While students from arts stream are trained to teach subjects like history, civics, geography and languages. The students from science stream are trained to teach mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology.
The main objective of the NCTE is to achieve planned and coordinated development of the teacher education system throughout the country, the regulation and proper maintenance of Norms and Standards in the teacher education system and for matters connected therewith
